Sponsorship and Family Helper Project
PRAJNA and CHILD FUND INDIA improve living conditions in remote villages and slum areas
Child labour in slums and neglected areas is a focused problem e.g. in chemical industry. Many children work as domestic workers instead of studying. A number of people are infected by diseases like tuberculosis, aids and malaria. People living in poverty don’t have facilities for nutritious and hygienic food or clean drinking water. Many families suffer from alcoholism and domestic violence. Women and young girls are victims of harassment and sexual abuse.
Along with CHILD FUND INDIA we support the empowerment of economically poor families and communities through the concept of sponsorship. The programme provides basic accommodations like health care and sanitation, shelter, drinking water and hygienic food. Through self-help-groups and skill trainings women getempowered and improve their income by opening own entrepreneurships.
The living conditions in neglected neighborhoods get improved through community-orientated programmes. To offer perspectives for the future, CHILD FUND INDIA has organized regular group meetings for children, where children find and share their future dreams. Through special trainings and personality building, the self-confidence of children increases. Many children in neglected areas are illiterates and school drop-outs. The programme provides personal tuitions for different subjects in the evening.
To solve the problem of alcoholism and addiction in families, the community-based programme includes de-addiction programmes.
For the empowerment of communities the process of awareness building and the recognition of human rights is essential. We have organized different awareness programmes in schools and communities for children as well as for adults.
The Sponsorship and Family Helper Project covers 800 families living in low-income communities and protect them from neglecting.
As a donor of Family Helper Project, single persons, families, companies or groups can accompany a child through the childhood and stay in personal contact by writing letters. The donation supports the facilities of the child as well as the situation of its family and the circumstances of the whole community. For about 20 Rupees a day the life of a child can change!
