PRAJNA provides a 24hours, seven days a week free telephonic help-line service for women in distress under the SANTWANA women help-line project.

The main aim of SANTWANA is to help and guide distressed women in different circumstances.  SANTWANA affords telephonic help, support and individual guidance. Through this program, women who are suffering get shelter, legal and police assistance, counseling and medical help.


It was founded in Febraury 2001 and receives around 15-20 calls a day. Santwana employs three social workers and one counselor. Professional social workers support women affected by atrocities, mental and physical harassment, sexual abuse and exploitation. Through SANTWANA they get guidance in marital and inter-familiar problems, aid in mental challenges and legal assistance.

As a State Level Training Centre for “Santwana Project”, recognized by the government, PRAJNA successfully organized trainings for chief functionaries and assistant directories for women and child development all over Karnataka state.PRAJNA provides a 24 hours, 7 days a week free telephonic help-line service for women in distress under the SANTWANA women help-line project.
