Weltwärts Volunteer Programme
Since 2011 Prajna is a Part of the Bridge Builder Program and a partner for the Karl-Kübel-Foundation.
In cooperation with “weltwärts” (translated to “worldwards”), a development program from the German government, the KKS sends up to 16 volunteers yearly to India into different projects such as Prajna, where they will stay for eight months.
The goal of the volunteers program is to create an intercultural dialog between India and Germany. The volunteers visit India to work in the NGOs but also to learn about the culture, the Indian life and to get an inside view in development work.
In Prajna the volunteers are working on many different topics, they have the possibility to get an inside view of all the different projects of Prajna, as well as to work there. The volunteers get the opportunity to work at the children homes, the deaddiction centre, the women ́s shelter and the daycare centre. Through the variety of projects they get an insight in different types of social work and can increase their knowledge. Further the volunteers work in the office of Prajna to do some public relations activities and help the staff with English texts and reports.
The 9th batch was working at Prajna in 2019/20, because of Covid it was not possible to send any volunteers to India for the following years. This year the 10th batch is staying at Prajna since the end of august 2023 until the end of march 2024.
